For myriad reasons, the Long Island, NY music scene is often maligned by many music fans (and lamented by songwriters) for its apathy to original music. On any given weekend, we can find a multitude of tribute bands playing at our theaters, while the songwriters struggle to get attention.

With this show, I am proud to present live appearances by two ‘performing musicians’ who are working hard to change this perception of Long Island. Both Gene Casey and Pete Mancini work full time as performing songwriters, writing great songs, and performing them live whenever and wherever there is an audience to appreciate their talents. I hope you enjoy this radio show. Even more, I hope you take the time to come out and see Gene and Pete play live with their respective bands , The Lone Sharks and Butchers Blind, and check out their new CDs, too.
